Wellington Wing Foiling Locations, Motukaraka Point, Porirua

A Brilliant Flat Water Location.  Perfect for beginners and for practicing techniques.  

This location works best in SSE winds at high tide.  It is very shallow to begin with but walk out approx 50m and the depth increases significantly. There is plenty of water for foiling. We tried this with 75cm masts, but when in the middle of the bay the depth was over our heads. 

To get there jump off Transmission Gully at Pauatahanui offramp. Follow State highway 58 to Pauatahanui and go straight through the roundabout onto Paekakariki Hill Road.  Then turn left onto Grays Road.  Motukaraka Point is a side road off Grays Road.  It is a nice location and we rigged by the park bench. 

There is plenty of beach downwind so it is a brilliant location for learners.  It is very shelly so wear booties.
